To be Christ to Everyone
To see Christ in Everyone
The 2022-2023 Parish School of Religion will be held in the second building of Ascension of Our Lord School. Volunteers are still needed.
PSR will be starting August 15, 2022.
Formerly known as the “CCD” program, the St. Joan of Arc Parish School of Religion (PSR) offers children in grades K-12 of non-Catholic academic schools, opportunities for formal religious education. Classes meet once a week and are taught by volunteer Catechists who share the vision of teaching the Gospel of Jesus with conviction, joy, love, enthusiasm and hope. The PSR program also provides for those children who need religious education for receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist.
Religion classes are meant to be an aid to parents. That means the primary duty of education rests with the parents. The class is not a substitute for parental involvement in the religious life of the student. Where Christ is truly present in the home, the religion class assists in proclaiming Christ's message and helps students apply it to their lives by promoting Catholic attitudes, values and practices.
The St. Joan of Arc Parish School of Religion program provides religious education to children not enrolled in Catholic schools. We have merged with Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church to offer an engaging and dynamic program for students in grades K-12. Classes are held on Monday nights from 6:00PM to 7:30PM. Registration fees are $40.00.
Those who wish to prepare for First Reconciliation, First Communion or Confirmation are required to be enrolled in the PSR program if they are not enrolled in a Catholic school.
Information and registration forms regarding the PSR program can be found on this page or by contacting the Religious Education Coordinator, Linda Monistere, at 985-651-1072 or email at dre@sjachurch.com.
