To be Christ to Everyone
To see Christ in Everyone
The word Baptism has its roots in the greek, meaning "immersion" and "bath". The idea that one must be "Spiritually" cleansed from original sin, is at the very core of this Sacrament. Jesus Himself underwent baptism from John the Baptist, not that He needed to be cleansed, but rather He Himself cleansed the water by which man would begin his journey back to God. Jesus taught, "No one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of "Water" and Spirit" (Jn 3:5). If one can imagine, water itself on the horizontal plane, represents a line of division between life above the surface and death below. By being submerged, we break the plane into death (leaving original sin behind) then break the plane once again to re-emmerge into a new life free from the sin of Adam and Eve. This life is a new begininning, clean, fresh and presentable before God. In essence, it is our first step on the path that leads to eternal life.
